Swipes
View and manage your customers' card purchases.
Swipes are transactions that raise the balance of a line of credit account, representing a purchase on credit. If the account holder accesses their credit through a card, you likely won’t log swipes manually, but this article will walk through the process of logging them in the UI.
Logging swipes
From the Line of Credit Account Manager, click on a line of credit to view its Summary. A list of transactions is included on the Summary page. To log a swipe, click on the ‘Log’ button in the upper right, and then select ‘Swipe’ from the menu.
The Log Swipe window will pop up, asking for the swipe information. You will also see a Merchant Information section, which can be toggled on or off.
Here's a breakdown of the information you can enter.
Field | Description |
Amount | The amount of the transaction. |
Apply date | The date the swipe applies on. |
Bucket | What bucket the swipe belongs in. |
Swipe category | What the swipe was made for. Swipe categories are dynamic and an unlimited number can be created in LMS. |
User | The specific customer who logged the swipe. This field isn't required, and accounts with only one borrower wouldn't need it. But for accounts with multiple borrowers, it's useful to track who made which transaction. |
Memo | Any additional information the user thinks is important to note. |
Merchant information | Toggling this on allows you to enter information about the merchant, shown below. |
If you click the Merchant Information toggle, you'll see these additional fields:
Here's a breakdown of each field.
Field | Description |
Merchant name | The merchant's name. |
Merchant address | The merchant's address. |
Zip code | The merchant's zip code. |
City | The merchant's city. |
Country | The merchant's country. |
State | The merchant's state. |
Once you have entered the required information, click the 'Save' button at the bottom right of the window to log the swipe.
